Technical Course focuses on the technical aspects of lapidary equipment. Students will gain a thorough understanding of equipment maintenance, balancing, and troubleshooting faceting equipment problems, and understanding how to correct these issues while also dispelling common lapidary myths. This course is designed to elevate the student’s knowledge to a professional standard. The focus is on maintaining equipment at a professional level by addressing manufacturing issues, teaching how to correct these problems, and how to evaluate equipment before purchasing to identify potential issues. The class will cover how to manufacture metal cutting and polishing laps, service and charge metal polishing and cutting laps, and determine the essential equipment needed for professional setups for cutting and polishing gemstones worldwide. Prerequisite is completing Basic, Intermediate, Advance One, and Advance Two classes.
